"I thought you and others might be interested to know about the ordinary brick wall which can be seen behind the kids being photographed, it is obviously not part of the red sandstone structure of the school. It was an enclosure filled with coal and was there all the time I was at the school ( 1940-45 ) I can only assume it was a wartime measure to have a safe supply of coal for the school"
