Our Wonderful Choir 2003
It has been quite a time for the school choir and teacher

The choir meet for an hour once per week during school hours and their numbers are made up by children from Primary 4 to Primary 7.

The choir is taught by school teacher Mrs Owens whose interest in music saw her playing the clarinet many years ago and she currently plays the piano, as well as singing in the well known and very popular ladies choir, The Cambus Singers.
Mrs Owens choir experience and enthusiasm obviously rubs off on the children, a wonderful gift.

April 2003 Below a photograph of the choir at the South Lanarkshire Musical Festival.... where they won 1st prize !!!!!

South Lanarkshire Festival of Music & Verse
The Music and Verse Festival in Cambuslang was revived in 1982 under the auspices of the Rotary Club.  Since then it has continued to grow and flourish, providing the opportunity for talent in the area to be displayed and encouraged. First known as the Cambuslang Festival of Music and Verse, its name changed in 1996, with the reorganisation of local government, and it now serves the whole of South Lanarkshire area and beyond.
The festival committee is pleased to acknowledge the support of South Lanarkshire Council both financially and publicising the festival to schools throughout the area.

April 2003, Extract from e-mail, Nessie Martinez ( nee Mercer )   (e-mail tba)
" webmaster your email just reminded me that I had been in the Dalmarnock School Choir in 1951.
We went to John Street Senior Secondary School and took second place. I remember some of the words to one of the songs we had to sing. "Now the fiddlers ready let us all begin, so step it out and step it in, to the merry music of the violin we'll dance the hours away." Can't for the world of me recall the name of the piece. Maybe if I had kept my mouth shut we would have took first place, ha ha.  I
threaten my children and grandchildren I will start singing if they don't do as I ask! What does that tell you! Was a good way to get my teenage daughter off the phone, ha ha"
