March 2004 Chrissie MacKenzie nee Pritchard
".....because of your wonderful website I have been reunited with Ella whom I lost contact with over thirty years ago. I remember the teacher Miss Corbett who was a kind and caring teacher
I knew some of the names. I received the rest from Ella this a.m. Ella does not own a computer but had her son in Houston Texas and her Sister in Canada look in on Glesga Pals ( I gave her the address) and they are so pleased they did.    Thanks again for all your patience and caring."  see 'Friends of DPS'

Two evacuees Joe & Chrissie Pritchard

Photograph of Chrissie with her brother Joe
both pupils at Dalmarnock Primary School
taken in 1939 at Hazzliebrae, Dumfries

Chrissie .. "...the evacuation was so emotive I get flash backs to standing in line with my gas mask slung across my shoulder and clutching a wee brown case, bought specially for the occasion.....Still gives me the heebie geebies!... One of the worst days of my life......"

June 2005, Extract from letter from Ella Grant (nee Park) Largs, Scotland .
Ella Park lived at 48 Ruby Street , attended Dalmarnock Primary School and was Dux of the school in 1940. Ella was best friends with Chrissie Pritchard and they lost touch for over thirty years but through our website they managed to make contact with each other again in March 2004 and I was delighted to meet them both at the schools open day on Thursday 16th June 2005, where Ella gave me this photograph of herself. Ella had been staying with Chrissie this week and they both attended our schools Civic Reception, held in Glasgow City Chambers.

Wonderful story this and we were delighted that these two ladies aged 76 & 77 were able to come back to the old school, get a guided tour and take a happy walk down memory lane.

Photo taken 2005.  See Ella's profile.
